About
ABOUT
Shawna Koontz is an Amsterdam-based painter originally from Portland, Oregon. She holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston.
Her work engages landscape as a psychological space, drawing on memory, distance, and the emotional charge of place. Inspired by the Pacific Northwest, Koontz employs heightened color and simplified forms to explore fear, reverence, and nostalgia within the natural world.
Her work is held in private and public collections, including the W Hotel and the City of Bellevue, Washington.
